Every year, the department awards scholarships to current, incoming, and transfer undergraduate students in plant science and sustainable agriculture & food systems. Students are automatically eligible for all departmental scholarships when they apply for college-level scholarships or through their admission materials to the university. My time at the University of Minnesota has deepened my love for horticulture and opened my eyes to all the possibilities my future can hold. Receiving a scholarship allowed me to focus more on my education and less on the financial stress that comes with earning a degree.

| Markhart Organics Scholarship | Undergraduate student working on the University of Minnesota Student Organic Farm or an undergraduate student working with horticultural crops that is engaged with traditionally underserved neighborhoods in the Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan area. |
| ASHS Outstanding Undergraduate Horticulture Student | Students are nominated for this award by the department. This award is given to the top undergraduate scholar in the department. |
| ASHS Collegiate Scholars Award | Students are nominated for this award by the department. They must be in the top 15% of their class and are selected on the basis of their scholarship achievements, leadership abilities, participation in campus/club activities, and services to their departments. |
| ASHS Scholars Award | Applicants must be nominated by the head of the department. Only one person may be nominated by the department per year. See the criteria on the ASHS website. |
| Minnesota Nursery and Landscape Association Scholarships | Students are nominated for this award by the department. This award is given to an outstanding undergraduate student studying horticulture. |
