Biography
Originally from Southern California, Rebecca earned a B.A. in Biology from Northwestern University, along with a minor in Environmental Policy. She studied ligand/receptor interactions of the Notch signaling pathway in the Mayo Lab at Northwestern University for four years before joining the Grossman Lab. Coursework for her environmental policy minor led her to become interested in sustainable food systems, so Rebecca volunteered with the Chicago Botanic Garden on an urban farm on the southwest side of Chicago. As a Ph.D. student in the Grossman lab, Rebecca studies rhizobia diversity and function in hairy vetch.
