Developing robust hybrid hazelnuts offer numerous desirable qualities for the Midwest: including building local economies and protecting sensitive crops and soil. Through funding from the Forever Green Initiative I am working under Jerry Cohen to clone thousands of hybrid hazelnuts to meet the needs of future field trials. My work primarily revolves around utilizing micro-propogation methods developed in the Cohen Lab and further refinement and development of methods in vitro methods.
Additionally, I will involve myself in various computer and electronic projects in the department; namely automated growth chambers and data analysis.
