My general research interests lie in the improvement of controlled environment growing practices. Here at the U of M, I am focusing specifically on containerized plant root responses to heat stress. My research is directed towards quantifying root respiration at variable temperatures and evaluating how heat shock in root systems can impact plant productivity & survival. Understanding how potted plants are responding to adverse below-ground conditions will help to inform better strategies for large-scale production. By extension, I am also interested in how soil microbiomes may mediate plant responses to environmental stressors.
