HortSci Grows Student Poster Competition

As part of HortSci Grows, a day celebrating where Horticultural Science has been and where we’re going, we’re hosting a poster competition.

Who can enter?

Undergraduate Students: You must be a current undergraduate at the University of Minnesota and a lead author of the poster being submitted. Group posters are allowed, but the prize will be split among eligible creators.

Graduate Students: You must be current U of M graduate student advised by a faculty member in the Department of Horticultural Science and primary author of the poster being submitted.

What kind of poster?

You are strongly encouraged to use an already-created poster for this competition. The poster must be related to horticultural science and must have been created during the 2016-17 school year or the summer of 2016, as part of a HORT course or with advisement from a faculty or staff member in the department (ex: poster created for UROP, conference, internship, etc).

Prizes

  • First Place
    • Undergraduates — $1,000*
      • *First place prize is sponsored by the Soil and Sunshine Garden Club. Winner(s) must present their work at the Garden Club meeting on April 10, 2017.
    • Graduates — $500
  • Second Place — $250
  • Third Place — $100

At least one poster creator must be present at the HortSci Grows reception to win:

Deadline to enter: March 19, 2017, 11:59 p.m. Hard copies of posters must be turned into 305 Alderman Hall by Monday, March 20 at 4 p.m.
